Red resin from Amazonian trees of the genus Croton, known in the region as sangue de dragão (dragon's blood). Harvested by a traditional riverside community and supplied as a raw material to industrial buyers.
Dragon's blood is the dark red sap of trees of the genus Croton, native to the Amazon. It takes its name from its colour. It is a raw material long known and traditionally used by the peoples of the forest.
In the Colniza region of northwestern Mato Grosso, it is collected by a traditional riverside community that works in partnership with the cooperative. The resin is taken from living trees, which remain standing in the forest.
The cooperative sells the resin as a raw material to companies in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and natural-ingredient industries.
