Banana chips
Bananas grown on member properties, processed and packaged by the cooperative. A product that adds value to a crop with a very short commercial window when sold fresh.
Bananas do not wait. Once harvested, they have only a few days before losing commercial value, and the producer ends up taking whatever the middleman offers. Processing solves that: it turns a perishable product into a shelf-stable one.
The cooperative receives bananas from member properties, processes them, packages them and sells them. The gain stays with the person who planted the crop, not with whoever buys at the farm gate.
It is the practical application of one of the social objectives in the Bylaws: to produce, manufacture, process, package, store and market food for human consumption.

Sustainability and agroforestry
Banana groves sit well in transition areas and forest margins and coexist with agroforestry systems, which makes the crop compatible with the statutory objective of encouraging environmental preservation and reforestation.
