Natural latex

Latex in natura from the native rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), tapped in the forest by a traditional riverside community and supplied to industrial buyers.

The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is native to the Amazon and is the origin of natural rubber. Latex is tapped from the bark of the living tree, which keeps producing for years.

In the Colniza region of northwestern Mato Grosso, it is collected by a traditional riverside community that works in partnership with the cooperative.

Supply format and handling of the latex are agreed with each buyer.

Sustainability and agroforestry

A native rubber tree only produces while the forest around it stands. Steady demand for its latex makes the standing forest economically valuable to the people who live in it, in line with the cooperative's statutory objective of encouraging environmental preservation.
