Second Field Day brings producers together at the Carvalho Beans nursery

The cooperative held its 2nd Field Day at the Carvalho Beans nursery in Taquaruçu do Norte, Mato Grosso, with technical talks, the first Producers Market, and the participation of SENAR-MT, EMPAER-MT, the Colniza Rural Union and IFMT.

On 30 May, from 9:00am to 4:30pm, the Carvalho Beans nursery in Taquaruçu do Norte, Mato Grosso, hosted the cooperative’s 2nd Field Day. The gathering was open to the community and brought producers from across the region together for a day of technical programming at the nursery itself.

A programme built with partners

The event was organised by the cooperative with the participation of SENAR Mato Grosso, EMPAER-MT, the Colniza Rural Union (SRCOL) and the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso. The published programme included technical talks and guidance on legal assistance, rural retirement, INSS benefits and rural credit — the subjects that come up most often in questions from the membership.

Three themes

The day was organised around three themes, which are also how the cooperative describes its own work:

  • Sustainable production — a commitment to the environment and to future generations
  • Diversification — more opportunities, more productivity, better results
  • Adding value — turning what is grown here into development for the region

The first Producers Market

The same day saw the 1st Producers Market, stocked with produce from our own land and brought by the members themselves. The idea was straightforward: bring the people who grow food closer to the people who eat it, within their own community, and let every visitor take the best of the local harvest home with them.

Why the Field Day matters

The cooperative’s bylaws commit it to providing agricultural technical assistance and spreading know-how among the membership. The Field Day is the most direct way of meeting that commitment: putting producers, technicians and partner institutions in the same place, out in the field, where the questions actually come up.
